Happy New Year!
Well, we made it out of 2020, and now it’s time to put our best foot forward for 2021! Lets continue to make the best of our virtual classes until we can get back to hitting… I meaning working with each other. In person classes will resume NEXT week at BOTH locations. Yeap, you read that correctly, the YMCA will not start in person classes until next week. They felt it best to extend the interim one more week for safety, and I agree that it was a good idea.
Have no fear, we will run virtual classes all week, even on days/nights that we do not normally. Those being Wednesday’s teen/adult class and Friday’s kids & teen/adult classes. Links will be provided in this email, please see below. Private lessons will also start back up this week, as well as our Friday morning workout group. It will be nice to get back into the swing of things!
YMCA Class Links (For this week only):
The password is the same one we have been using, if you need it, please email/message me. These “one off” virtual classes are open to all of you. Just make sure you go to the appropriate class… no kids in the teen/adult class etc.
In Person Classes
As stated above, in person classes will start back up the week of January 11th, 2021. If you are not signed up at the YMCA, please do so soon as space is VERY limited. Parks & Rec. students who were training in person November & December, you are good to go. If you would like to start back up at the Parks & Rec., please check with me first to see if there is space for you. Space is limited at both locations for safety reasons. If you just show up to class, and it is full, you may be turned away. 🙁
My hopes is that we will be back to normal by June… but only time will tell.
Black Belt Ceremony 2021
I’ve decided to postpone our January 2021 ceremony until June/July. A summer ceremony will allow us to use the outside, which will be a safer event, and honor the black belts more than a virtual event can. It will not be as long as an event, but we can still have our tea ceremony etc. New black belts will be awarded their new embroidered belts in class next week, unless you would rather wait until the official ceremony.
For now, I think our school’s goal is just to continue to be flexible with what types of classes we can have. Make the best of those classes and work as hard as we can. Our adaptability and focus will help us all to grow and learn through these continuing weird times.
I do have other news, but nothing major that needs to be mentioned here. For now, I will finish by saying thank you to everyone, for your loyalty and hard work. I look forward to seeing you all in class again, whether virtual, or in person.
We hope that you all had happy holidays and that this new year brings great things for all of us and the world.
